Bethesda (spółka ZeniMax Media) jest producentem i wydawcą interaktywnej rozrywki od dwóch dekad. Została założona w 1986 roku przez Christophera Weavera w miejscowości Bethesda w stanie Maryland, a ich obecna siedziba mieści się w Rockville. Firma posiada długą historię w grach na PC i konsole.
Bethesda jest najprawdopodobniej najbardziej znana z produkcji serii gier cRPG - The Elder Scrolls
Problemy z zabezpieczeniami[edytuj]
Bethesda wydała grę Fallout 3 wraz z zabezpieczeniem SecuROM. Instalując grę instalujemy również oprogramowanie, które ściąga aktualizacje bez naszej wiedzy i nie można go łatwo odinstalować (pozostaje nawet po deinstalacji gry). Wersja polska nie jest zgodna z FOSE, Fallout Script Extender. Wiele osób, które nabyły oryginalną legalną grę Fallout 3 decyduje się na korzystanie z nielegalnych kopii gry – ponieważ te działają bez problemów w przeciwieństwie do oryginalnej gry.
Jako przykłady problemów z SecuROM należy podać:
- Brak możliwości uruchomienia gry, gdy mamy aktywny jakikolwiek emulator płyt CD/DVD (na przykład emulator płyt MSDN ściągnięty ze strony microsoft.com).
- Problemy z uruchomieniem z wieloma napędami CD/DVD (SecuROM zaleca przestawienie napędów na dużo wolniejszy, ale kompatybilny tryb PIO).
- Brak możliwości uruchomienia instalacji bezpośrednio z płyty – Bethesda zaleca uruchomienie pliku setup.exe bezpośrednio z płyty.
