General Hospital – amerykańska opera mydlana, której akcja rozgrywa się w środowisku medycznym. W 2002 roku został wyemitowany 10.000 odcinek serialu. Jest to najdłużej produkowana opera mydlana w amerykańskiej stacji American Broadcasting Company i najdłużej kręcony serial w Hollywood (kręcony w Prospect Avenue ABC Television Center West i Sunset-Gower Studios). Zlokalizowany w fikcyjnym miasteczku Port Charles General Hospital zadebiutował na ekranach telewizorów 1 kwietnia 1963 roku. Odcinki trwały 30 minut, od 1976 długość została zwiększona do 45 minut, a następne do pełnej godziny w 1978. Na początku lat '90 ok. 500 odcinków z lat 1986-1987 wyemitowała telewizja Polsat. Polski tytuł brzmiał "Szpital Miejski".
