The Glitter Band – zespół towarzyszący Gary’emu Glitterowi, powstały w 1972 roku. Znany początkowo jako Glittermen, składał się z współpracującego już wcześniej z Mikiem Leanderem i Garym Glitterem saksofonisty Johna Rossalla, Johna Springate’a grającego na gitarze basowej i śpiewającego gitarzysty Gerry’ego Sheparda (ur. 28 grudnia 1951, zm. 6 maja 2003), drugiego saksofonisty – Harveya Ellisona i dwóch perkusistów, Pete’a Phippsa i Tony’ego Leonarda.

Decyzja o rozpoczęciu samodzielnej działalności nagraniowej zapadła pod koniec 1973 roku, gdy Gary Glitter miał kłopoty z gardłem. Napisana przez Johna Rossalla i Gerry’ego Shepherda piosenka „Angel Face” osiągnęła czwarte miejsce na angielskiej liście przebojów w marcu 1974 roku. Przez jakiś czas zarówno sam Gary Glitter, jak i The Glitter Band równolegle umieszczali swoje piosenki na listach przebojów.
