Moko[5] (Kerodon) – rodzaj ssaków z podrodziny kapibar (Hydrochoerinae) w obrębie rodziny kawiowatych (Caviidae).

Zasięg występowania[edytuj | edytuj kod]

Rodzaj obejmuje gatunki występujące endemicznie w Brazylii[6][7][8].

Morfologia[edytuj | edytuj kod]

Długość ciała (bez ogona) 297–384 mm, długość tylnej stopy 62–72 mm, długość ucha 32–35 mm; masa ciała 612–1000 g[7][9].

Systematyka[edytuj | edytuj kod]

Rodzaj zdefiniował w 1825 roku francuski zoolog i paleontolog Frédéric Cuvier w publikacji swojego autorstwa o tytule Des dents des mammifères considérées comme caractères zoologiques[1]. Na gatunek typowy Cuvier wyznaczył (oznaczenie monotypowe) moko skalnego (K. rupestris).

Kerodon (Kerodons, Cerodon, Ceratodon): gr. κερας keras, κερατος keratos ‘róg’; οδους odous, οδοντος odontos ‘ząb’[10].
