Historia obiektu

Deutsch: Der zwischen 1320 und 1337 mit Stadtrechten begabte Platz der Herren von Eppstein benutzte in den ersten Siegeln seit dem frühen 15. Jahrhundert eine Marke in Schrägkreuzstellung, aus der sich zuerst im Siegel um 1550 das heutige Wappen entwickelt hat. Das Bild ist wohl redend für den Ortsnamen in der früheren Form „Howenberg“. Seit der Nachbildung des Wappens im Saal des Schlosses Rotenburg (1577) von Wessel 1621 sind die Farben bekannt, die 1908 erneut amtlich bestätigt wurden. Damals legte man auch die Stadtfarben Blau und Weiß fest.

English: Bad Homburg's civic coat of arms was granted in 1903 but is said to date from the 15th century on the basis of seals known from that time, although they show a saltire rather than the two adzes seen today (the saltire might be two unclear adzes). The reason for the adzes in the arms is not known; it is possibly dialectal canting. The colours, with silver adzes in a blue field, have been in use at least since 1621.
