John Louis Esposito (ur. 19 maja 1940 w Brooklynie) – amerykański islamoznawca. Jego prace naukowe zostały przetłumaczone na ponad 45 języków[1].
Życiorys
[edytuj | edytuj kod]Wykładał na College of the Holy Cross w Worcesterze oraz na S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies w Singapurze[1]. Następnie został wykładowcą islamistyki na Uniwersytecie Georgetown[2].
Założył Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding, którego został dyrektorem[3][1], objął także funkcję wiceprzewodniczącego Center for the Study of Islam and Democracy[2].
Redaktor naczelny The Oxford Encyclopedia of the Modern Islamic World oraz The Oxford History of Islam[2][1].
