The Czech Republic (Czech: Česká republika, short form Česko) is a country in Central Europe. The country borders Poland to the northeast, Germany to the west and northwest, Austria to the south and Slovakia to the east. The capital and largest city is Prague (Czech: Praha). The country is composed of the historic regions of Bohemia and Moravia, as well as parts of Silesia.

Police of the Czech Republic (PČR) was established by the act 283/1991 Sb. as a new law enforcement agency in the Czech Republic (at that time called Czech and Slovak Federal Republic). PČR is the main investigative body of the Ministry of Interior. Most towns and some villages have its own municipal police, which supervises public order and road safety; however municipal police have jurisdiction only over misdemeanours and in cases of crimes may serve only supportive role for the state police.
