Stema comunei Satu Mare se compune dintr-un scut triunghiular cu marginile rotunjite, cu talpă, tăiată de o linia îngustă, de argint. În câmp albastru, ieșind din linia despărțitoare se află o poartă tradițională sculptată și decorată, cu porumbar, de argint, deasupra căruia se află un soare de aur, la dextra, respectiv o semilună crescătoare, de argint, la senestra.

Talpa verde a scutului este încărcată de o floare de narcisă cu șase petale de argint și coronula de aur. Scutul este timbrat de o coroană murală cu un turn crenelat.

Semnificaţia elementelor însumate: Poarta face referire la păstrarea tradițiilor populare, comuna Satu Mare fiind vestită de cele circa o sută de porți tradiționale sculptate aflate în localitate.

Soarele şi semiluna provin din sigiliul localității din prima jumătate a secolului al XIX-lea, totodată arată faptul că această localitate a făcut parte din fostul scaun Odorhei, spre deosebire de celelalte localități din țată, cu denumirea de Satu Mare. Floarea face referire la poiana de narcise situată pe platoul ,,Cekend”, din comună. Coroana murală cu un turn crenelat semnifică rangul de comună.
