Proposal for GoogleTrans gadget[edytuj kod]

Hi there,

Sorry about the English.

I have had a GoogleTrans gadget on the enwiki for almost a year now. If you position the cursor over a word and hit the SHIFT key it will popup the google translation of that word. It is like the google toolbar translation feature except that it will also handle selected text (< 500 characters). The gadget is currently running on 7 wikis.

The help page for the gadget is at:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Endo999/GoogleTrans

and the code is at:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Endo999/GoogleTrans.js

There are instructions on how to port the gadget onto other wikis on the help page.

This gadget is now running on mk.wikipedia.org and sr.wikipedia.org.

Good luck with your wiki. Anybody who is learning Polish by reading plwiki articles could benefit from this gadget.

Hi! I've got a sad message for you. We are not to introduce globally this gadget on our wiki. There is no reason to bring users the gadget working with Google services instead of Yahoo or other companies. However thank you for information. Maybe some user will decide to use your gadget on their own. Regards, Patrol110 (dyskusja) 23:17, 31 sie 2010 (CEST)[odpowiedz]

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate your honesty. Google manages to do an AJAX-like javascript call to their translation services from a website other than Google (ie., Wikipedia). I don't think the other services do this. Also, Google's service is free. There are no plans to charge.

GoogleTrans would be a good fit for your plwiki. There are millions of descendants of Polish immigrants in the West who understand some Polish from their parents talking to them at home, but are otherwise not fully proficient in the language. They could profit from a tool that looks up quickly a word or two each sentence or two. It would help them pick up the Polish of their parents and grandparents. There isn't a much better way to learn to read a language than to read Wikipedia articles in that language (with the aid of something like GoogleTrans).

There's a Polish community in Maylands Western Australia where I used to live. The hymns that came from the Polish church there on Easter were quite moving.

Niewłaściwa definicja gadżetu[edytuj kod]

Gadżet z definicją "Stary wygląd widoku różnic (diffów) – mniejsza czcionka, czerwony i zielony kolor, nieco inne formatowanie (wygląd z wersji MediaWiki <1.20)" ma błąd w definicji, gdyż tu jest mowa o czerwonym i zielonym kolorze, jednak to jest oznaczane kolorami żółtym i zielonym. Proszę to naprawić. --Keyacom (💬 | 🖊) 18:19, 21 lut 2020 (CET)[odpowiedz]
