El fuerte recuerda la toma de esta reducción por el General Obligado y la posterior fundación de pueblo y Colonia Agrícola. Por último, el labrador con el arado y el caballo simboliza el trabajo fecundo de los pioneros y la antorcha sostenida por el brazo predominando en el escudo simbolizan el desarrollo de la ciudad.
