Rodzaj zdefiniował w 1848 roku angielski zoolog John Edward Gray na łamach Proceedings of the Zoological Society of London[1]. Na gatunek typowy Gray wyznaczył (oznaczeni monotypowe) dendrogala indochińskiego (D. murina) .
Etymologia[edytuj | edytuj kod]
Dendrogale: gr. δενδρον dendron „drzewo”; γαλεή galeē lub γαλή galē „łasica”[7].
Podział systematyczny[edytuj | edytuj kod]
Do rodzaju należą następujące gatunki[8][6][3][2]:
- Dendrogale murina (Schlegel & S. Müller, 1843) – dendrogal indochiński
- Dendrogale melanura (O. Thomas, 1892) – dendrogal borneański
