LOL lol, akronim dla laugh(ing) out loud (śmianie się na głos),[1][2][3] albo lots of laughs (dużo śmiechu),[4][5][6] to popularny element slangu internetowego. Początkowo był używany prawie wyłącznie w Usenecie, ale w międzyczasie rozpowszechnił się w innych formach komunikacji internetowej i komunikacji face-to-face. Jest on jednym z wielu skrótowców do wyrażania uczuć, zwłaszcza śmiechu, w tym jego inne formy jak LMAO[7] ("laugh(ing) my ass off") albo ROFL[8][9][10] (albo, starsza forma, ROTFL;[11][12] "roll(ing) on the floor laughing"). Czasami bywa interpretowany jako "losts of luck (dosłownie: dużo szczęścia)"albo lost of love (dosłownie: dużo milosci)" .[13]
