Rodzaj obejmuje gatunki występujące w Ameryce Południowej[2].
Morfologia[edytuj | edytuj kod]
Długość ciała do 16 cm, masa ciała 18–31 g[3].

Nazwa rodzajowa jest połączeniem słów z języka greckiego: ταρφος tarphos – „gąszcz, chaszcze” oraz νομος nomos – „mieszkanie, rezydencja”[4].
Podział systematyczny[edytuj | edytuj kod]
Takson ostatnio wyodrębniony z rodzaju Upucerthia[1][5][6][7]. Gatunkiem typowym jest Anabates certhioides. Do rodzaju należą następujące gatunki[8]:
- Tarphonomus harterti – bromeliowczyk jasnobrewy
- Tarphonomus certhioides – bromeliowczyk rdzawobrewy
