The Platters - afroamerykańska wokalna grupa popowa związana z gatunkami soul i rhythm and blues. Grupa powstała w 1953 roku w Los Angeles i koncertowała w miejscowych klubach. Wyjątkowością grupy był fakt, że była ona mieszana. Obok czterech mężczyzn występowała w niej wokalistka. Umożliwiło to budowanie specyficznego, scenicznego napięcia opartego na delikatnych (dopuszczalnych w kategoriach epoki) aluzjach erotycznych. Grupa charakteryzowała się znakomitym zgraniem głosów. Mimo swej atrakcyjności, zespół zapewne podzieliłby los tysięcy innych grup działających w tym czasie, gdyby nie wpadł w oko legendarnemu producentowi Buckowi Ram, który wyprowadził go na czoło swego gatunku.

W 1990 roku grupa The Platters została wprowadzona do Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
