Urodziła się w San Francisco[1][2] w Kalifornii jako córka Janet (Hamilton) i Richarda Handa[3]. Dorastała w Newport Beach[4][5]. Wychowywała ją matka[5]. Jej babcia ze strony matki była córką fińskich imigrantów[3].

Ukończyła szkołę średnią Corona del Mar High School[6], a aktorstwa uczyła się w Joanne Baron / D.W. Brown Acting Studio[7] oraz współpracując z grupą improwizacji komediowej The Groundlings[5].

Kariera

Karierę telewizyjną rozpoczęła w wieku 18 lat od udziału w reklamach. Wkrótce pojawiła się po raz pierwszy w filmie fabularnym, komedii erotycznej Szkoła dla dziewic (Virgin High, 1991) u boku Linnei Quigley.
