Gertrude Stein

Gertrude Stein (ur. 3 lutego 1874 w Pittsburghu, zm. 27 lipca 1946 w Paryżu) - amerykańska pisarka, poetka i feministka. Miała wpływ na rozwój modernistycznej sztuki i literatury. Większość życia spędziła we Francji.
Jest autorką określenia stracone pokolenie i sławnego zdania "Róża jest różą, jest różą, jest różą", nakazując interpretować rzeczy, takimi jakie są. Od 1934 do II wojny światowej podejmowała działania, aby Adolf Hitler otrzymał pokojową nagrodę Nobla[1][2].
Stein była lesbijką. W 1907 roku poznała Alice B. Toklas, która stała się jej życiową partnerką.
