Simalia – rodzaj węży z rodziny pytonów (Pythonidae).

Zasięg występowania[edytuj | edytuj kod]

Rodzaj obejmuje gatunki występujące w Indonezji, na Molukach, Papui-Nowej Gwinei i Australii^[5].

Simalia: J.E. Gray nie wyjaśnił etymologii nazwy rodzajowej^[1].
Hypaspistes: gr. ὑπο hupo „nieco, trochę”^[6]; ασπιστης aspistēs „uzbrojony w tarczę”^[7]. Gatunek typowy: Hypaspistes dipsadides Ogilby, 1891 (= Boa amethistina Schneider, 1801).
Australiasis: Australia; rodzaj Liasis J.E. Gray, 1842^[3]. Gatunek typowy: Boa amethistina Schneider, 1801.
Nyctophilopython: Gr. νυξ nux, νυκτος nuktos „noc”^[8]; φιλος philos „kochający”, od φιλεω phileō „kochać”^[9]; rodzaj Python Daudin, 1803^[4]. Gatunek typowy: Python oenpelliensis Gow, 1977.
